HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

We are pleased that everyone was able to enjoy the last few days in school, and we were all together to finish the year.

None of us need reminding how challenging the year has been, but we must look forward and hope September brings changes and a chance to move forward whilst being sensible and cautious.

We are pleased to be going back to all children starting and finishing at the same time. The children will be expected to come in (if on the premises) at 8:45am when the first buzzer goes with the second buzzer signifying the start of the day at 8:50am.

I expect some guidance for schools to be sent during the holidays, so I will be in touch before September if we receive any relevant information.

We wish all the year 6 children all the very best and look forward to hearing about their successes at high school. Thank you to all Year 6 parents and carers for your support over the past four years, and we wish all families well for the future.

Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support. I hope everyone gets to enjoy the summer and has a fantastic well-earned break.

Kind regards

Matt Walton, Headteacher

Good luck Miss Farrow!

We all wish Miss Farrow all the very best for her wedding in the summer holidays. Hopefully she will have amazing weather for her special day. She will be Mrs Connell (3C) when she returns in September.

Goodbye Miss Mee!

Miss Mee has been with us for just under a year and has provided teaching support and taught a lot of group work across the school. We've enjoyed her being with us and wish her the very best in her new adventure. She will be a Year 4 Junior School teacher in Manchester from September. We wish her all the very best!

Sports Day Final Results

Whilst Earth did superbly in winning 3 out of the 4 Sports Days, Fire's consistent scoring across all the year groups enabled them to take the Sports Day trophy. Well done to all the Fire team!

1. Fire - 2945 points

2. Air - 2936 points

3. Earth - 2819 points

4. Water - 2552 points

Uniform Reminder

Please remember that we are asking for children to come to school twice a week in their PE kit from September. We ask that the children are in a white or plain navy t-shirt, navy or black shorts and have a plain blue or black tracksuit.

Please also note that we are going back to black school shoes on the three uniform days and these should not have other markings on them.

Amazing Attendance

We've awarded many children their 100% Attendance Awards this week, with the children having attended every day the school was open. We've also said an amazing well done to Sofia Reid who has only had one day off in four years and Matthew Williams who has managed to be at school every single day for the last four years. An amazing achievement both of you!

New website for parents to boost child's learning and wellbeing this summer

The government have launched a brand new site, designed especially for parents, with the support, information and resources they need to help their children enjoy the summer holidays and prepare for the next academic year.

The site features links to programmes, activities, resources and videos to boost children's learning and wellbeing aimed at parents of 0-19 year olds, with extra information for parents of SEND children.

School Lunches

You should have received a recent letter informing of a new system in which hot meals need to be ordered a week in advance. It is hoped this will save time in school as well as reducing incorrect ordering and reducing food wastage. This is a trial to see how well it works over the autumn term.

The menu for September can be found on the school website and has also been sent out to you by email.

House Competition

We've had a very close House Competition all year and the final scores show how very close it all was. Well done to 'Air' for winning the overall competition this year!

1st - Air  90 points

2nd - Earth 87 points

3rd - Water 85 points

4th - Fire 81 points

Coronavirus

If a pupil tests positive for coronavirus in the next 5 days, please do inform us. It will enable us to make a decision on whether we need to support with the identification of any close contacts. Please email: office@sprowstonjunior.norfolk.sch.uk
